French Ambassador for Human Rights Visits Hope Makers Organization for Woman in Sinjar

Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) was honored to welcome Ms. Isabelle Rome, the French Ambassador for Human Rights, to its center in Sinjar on May 6th, 2025. The Ambassador was accompanied by the French Consul in Mosul during her visit, which focused on exploring HMOW’s initiatives in empowering women and supporting children affected by conflict and displacement.

During the visit, the delegation observed several of the center’s ongoing programs. These included a bilingual Arabic and French language course for children, designed to foster educational growth and cultural exchange, and an awareness session for women focused on the theme of "breaking the silence"—a powerful discussion addressing issues related to gender-based violence and the importance of women's voices in rebuilding communities.

Dr. Nagham Hassan, Executive Director of Hope Makers Organization for Woman, expressed her gratitude for the visit, stating:

“We are deeply honored by the visit of Ambassador Rome and the French Consul. Their presence reaffirms the importance of international solidarity and support for the rights of women and children in post-conflict areas. Our center is committed to healing, education, and empowerment, and we are proud to showcase our work in building a resilient community.”

The visit underscores the ongoing partnership between local civil society organizations and international actors in promoting human rights, gender equality, and inclusive recovery in Iraq’s most affected regions.
